While the MSM has been chasing rabbits for the past nine months, a few dedicated investigative reporters have been busy, (to paraphrase form POTUS Ronald Reagan), "Making a difference".

The Obama Administration has brought us to the brink of war with Mexico. The cause ? The administration has, since 2009, been actively engaged in a tactic of facillitating the illegal purchase and "walking", ( smuggling of these arms), into Mexico knowing they were destined for criminal elements. It has even sold light military arms directly to known criminal elements via its "Commercial Sales Program". Its "official response" to date has been to implement a further "reporting requirement" upon american citizens and legal businesses and indicate its support, (and implied intent of enforcing" of the UN's "Treaty on Small Arms" in the U.S.

For a detailed run-down of the players, actions and events visit these sites:

"
Note to newcomers to this story: “Project Gunrunner” is the name ATF assigned to its Southwest Border Initiative to interdict gun smuggling to Mexico. “Project Gunwalker” is the name I assigned to the scandal after allegations by agents that monitored guns were allowed to fall into criminal hands on both sides of the border through a surveillance process termed “walking” surfaced."

With a story line making Iran-Contra look like a boy scout jamboree, the MSM has studiously ignored the Obama Administration's bumbling attempts to delay and obsfuscate Congressional investigation into what's increasingly emerging as a scandal with national and international repurcussions. >Mech

Beats the living hell out of wars in the Middle East, and they aren't even Muslims! It would certainly be a breath of fresh air doing battle with Spanish speaking Catholics. We could probably deal better with the illegal immigrant situation and curb the transfer of illegal drugs across the border if a state of war existed between the two nations.
Looks like a win win situation to me.

I think my new buddy Mech still has all his fingers and toes crossed in hopes that this will go WAY bad.

Hey man, it's Mexico. Couple a bribes and it's all good. Hmm

Mech, do you ever respond to folks when they try to dialogue with you?

I'm not going to try to excuse the result of the failure of Fast and Furious (in this case, the ATF operation, not the awful film franchise). But, I want to raise a countervailing consideration. Why is it that the ATF is forced to resort to desperate sting operations to stop gun running into Mexico in the first place?

A well reasoned argument is like a diamond: impervious to corruption and crystal clear - and infinitely rarer.

Hey L.T. its already gone "Way Bad" ! Its just that its on our side of the border and in our government !! The emerging evidence indicates what can only be charitably termed "malfeasance" spread across all the major security agencies under the DOJ umbrella. The USAG, Holder, has been caught committing perjury in the case. It certainly appears the administration that promised us a "new era in transparency, oversight, and responsiveness" is delivering. >Mech

In other words, "let's focus on blaming the current administration for political reasons and ignore the underlying problem."
