The article is not clear whether the materials being confiscated limited to those that are unused ones and taken only from purses or pockets: http://www.salon.com/2013/07/12/texas_senate_confiscates_tampons_during_abortion_hearing/

The Texas Republicans just keep making themselves look more and more foolish. Why are they so afraid of tampons?

And no satire sight can beat this. I had to Google this to make sure it wasn't a joke.

A well reasoned argument is like a diamond: impervious to corruption and crystal clear - and infinitely rarer.
Here, as elsewhere, people are outraged at what feels like a rigged game -- an economy that won't respond, a democracy that won't listen, and a financial sector that holds all the cards. - Robert Reich

Scoutgal asked: Why are they so afraid of tampons? I guess they don't want to be in the land of cotton.

As a native Texan, I am completely ashamed of the Texas Legislators who have made a laughing stock of Texas. Their actions against women are despicable. Texas now shines as one of the leading state idiocracies in the nation. I consider this Texas government cowards and unforgivable.

In NC, the two houses pasted their anti-abortion stuff onto two bills: One to outlaw use of Sharia law in NC and the other having to do with motorcycle safety. I think adding the abortion bill to the anti-Sharia law is an irony that went right over the heads of the Talichristians in the legislature.
Take the nacilbupeR pledge: I solemnly swear that I will help back out all Republicans at the next election.

The NC Christibans fail to equate their religious-law with Muslim religious-law. They truly don't believe the two philosophies are remotely equivalent. Clearly, the NC Christiban are being home-schooled.

I think that the women of Texas (and maybe through out the US) should collect douchebags(not the human kind), crate them and sen them to the Texas State Legislature-as a reminder of what those men(and some women) are acting like.
