There's something in magic mushrooms that's shown to ease anxiety and depression in cancer patients in one dose

That's a main theme in Aldous Huxley's Island. Taking magic mushrooms for the insight that fixes your life. Only one trip is required.

This is also reflected in a treatment for PTSD that actually seems to work: Remembering the trigger event (ie. telling a therapist) forms new traumatic memories. You can break the endless cycle by taking some MDMA and then telling the therapist about the event. Every retelling does NOT form traumatic memories, and after several retellings the event seems very distant. Even after the MDMA wears off, all of those non-traumatic memories outweigh any feeling of trauma and the PTSD is pretty much cured. They have seen excellent results after just one MDMA session!

In more than 5 decades of existence, I have never taken any illicit "recreational" drugs (except alcohol as a minor). I am about to change that, I think, having purchased some legal "edibles" recently. Because I hold a CDL, however, I have to be aware of the difference between the State's and the feds' policies on this. I also recognize that this is quite different from the more "mind expanding" offerings.

What I think all of this raises, though, is how narrow-minded we are as a society toward the possibilities of medical breakthroughs such as those associated with MDMA. That is, after all, why LSD and MDMA were developed. We're only recently tripping to the medical benefits of THC and CBDs.

A well reasoned argument is like a diamond: impervious to corruption and crystal clear - and infinitely rarer.

Here, as elsewhere, people are outraged at what feels like a rigged game -- an economy that won't respond, a democracy that won't listen, and a financial sector that holds all the cards. - Robert Reich

And how beholden we are to the pharmaceutical industry. There are natural medicines that have been around for millennia but, if they don't come from a bottle with a brand name on them they can't possibly help rolleyes

Whiskey usually has a brand name... Hmm
