So, the question becomes, can the Dems pull a Clinton and get America to blame the Republicans for shutting the government down? Because, just as before, it will be the Dems who shut it down. I just hope it stays shutdown, like for months and months!

Have a great day!

We all know it won't be the fault of the Republicans, because they are too incompetent to do anything, even though they control all four branches of government.

Sometimes even a blind squirrel finds an acorn. I can live with a bunch of morons trying to do the right thing only to have a slightly smaller bunch of morons stop the larger group in the name of politics. Hell, makes my heart go pitter patter just thinking abiut the Dems playing the stooge to the Republican majority. I mean, who the hell really cares if the government shuts down? It is a net gain in leadership and it might even save some money. Ah, maybe not. Still the competence of the government increases when it shuts down at night, so it should be brilliant during a complete shutdown.

Interesting, don't you think, that a chronic 'kick the can down the road' inability to fund the government is following right after a tax plan that reduces funding for the government?

It looks suspiciously like the conservatives are drowning the USA in the bathtub.

I wonder if it would help if they made a little effort to craft a budget that was connected to reality...

'Blind squirrels' is a good metaphor for those in control of the government, but blind squirrels trying to do the right thing? I see no evidence of that.

It is never a bad thing to take the purse strings away from Congress. As far as I am concerned, the only thing that would be better than a shutdown after a tax cut is a tax cut after a tax cut, followed by a shut down.

Neither side cares one wit about the deficit or the debt. The Dems want to support those who refuse to work and the reps want to support those that refuse to create high paying jobs. The shutdown accomplishes a net gain. Without money to spend, the government can't continue to drive the United States into bankruptcy. I hope that once the government shuts down that both sides refuse to talk. Then, I would have hope that the Reps have an idea of how to make America great again.

This is HILARIOUS MaR! I didn't know you were so adept at satire. The GOP can't muster a majority of their own party to pass the CR, which will certainly make it hard to blame the Dems.
51 Senators. McCain is out. Paul is no. Graham is no. Even with Manchin voting yes, Bill is dead. Reality puts a spike in fevered Republican fantasies of blaming Dems.

A well reasoned argument is like a diamond: impervious to corruption and crystal clear - and infinitely rarer.

Here, as elsewhere, people are outraged at what feels like a rigged game -- an economy that won't respond, a democracy that won't listen, and a financial sector that holds all the cards. - Robert Reich

Yeah, it would be far better to have the U.S. collapse completely. Maybe the Chinese would step in and take over?

"Thank you for calling the Centers for Disease Control.
Due to the government shutdown, all offices and laboratories are closed.
If this is an emergency report of an epidemic or a case of mass poisoning, please hang up and call 9-1-1. Thank you for calling the CDC."

I see some posts here and there complaining about DACA participants who have been here for years and done nothing to obtain a green card or citizenship. I am pretty sure they couldn't! I don't think there is any mechanism for somebody under 18 to obtain a green card once they are already here.

Now conservatives are going to raise a stink about amnesty, if we do create any path to citizenship. How about an enlistment in the armed forces? Maybe a civilian conservation corps for the excess the armed forces don't want? Complete two years of either and you get a green card. You still have to study, stay out of trouble, and take a test to get citizenship just like every other green card holder.
