This week, VP Mike Pence meet with the Irish government following a visit to Poland to honor the lives lost in that country during World War II. During his stay in Ireland, Pence's offices states that POTUS Trump "suggested" the the VP stay at Trump International which is 180 miles from Dublin, Ireland's capital. Pence has argued that staying at the Trump's hotel in Doonbeg, was the safest, easiest option, but his critics argue he is working to enrich the president while serving the American people. Yet, when former President Obama met with the Irish government, Obama stayed in Dublin. Questions have surrounded why Mike Pence would do such a thing? It has long be rumored that Trump, with the encouragement of his daughter Ivanka and son-in-law Jared Kushner, will dump Mike Pence as a running-made in favor of Niki Haley. In August 2019, Haley Tweeted "enough of the false rumors" that Trump was going to replace Mike Pence with Haley as his 2020 running mate. I doubt that Trump would place anybody who's more intelligent than he is as a running mate - especially a woman. It's been long known that Trump requires "loyalty' from people who work for him. Could Pence's stay at Trump International in Doonbeg be a gesture of loyalty towards the thin-skinned and very insecure POTUS in order for Pence to keep his VP job? Pence's stay also raises questions of violating the Emoluments Clause which Elizabeth Warren is pressing the State Department as to why Pence's stayed at a Trump hotel in Doonbeg, Ireland. Per The Hill Warren also asked for the total cost of Pence's trip to Doonbeg and how it would have compared to him staying in Dublin, which State Department officials approved Pence's travel plans or if they were reviewed by ethics officials, and all communications between the department and Pence's staff about his stay in Doonbeg. According to video on the LGBT website Out.com, nobody local showed-up to greet Mike Pence except government officials and nearly all of the people seen in the video was Pence's US or Irish Security detail.

...from the Irish Times regarding Pence's visit: Although the courtesies were maintained during the two-day visit of US vice-president Mike Pence to Ireland, it clearly did not go very well. Cold politics triumphed over warm words as Pence followed President Trump in openly indicating his support for British prime minister Boris Johnson’s approach to the Brexit negotiations.
Johnson has set out deliberately to blame Ireland for the political chaos in the UK and attempted to scapegoat Taoiseach Leo Varadkar for defending the Belfast Agreement and the integrity of the EU single market.
The Taoiseach maintained a dignified demeanour as his US guest positioned himself on the side of Johnson and his Brexit policy and had the effrontery to call on the EU to negotiate in good faith when it has done precisely that in the face of brazen dishonesty from the Brexiteers. Continued: Pence was of course only echoing his master’s voice in supporting Johnson and denigrating the EU. A central element of Trump’s policy is to do everything he can to encourage the break-up of the EU. Support for the hardest possible type of Brexit is part of a strategy designed to weaken the EU and ultimately destroy it. Ouch. The Irish really ought not sugarcoat how they really feel.

I suppose you've seen those maps of the United States where the size of the States are distorted and determined by population, or income, or wealth, etc. In Trump's mind, the world works that way. Strange Maps, the World According to Trump. Any place with a Trump property exists, and the rest of the world is an afterthought, or unimportant. Ireland is the place where he has golf course, which is all that is important. The capital? Well, it must be close to the golf course, if it is important...

Both Pence and Trump broke the law by violating the emoluments clause. A president's job is to serve his country's interests. If a person runs a business while being President, whose business will he serve, the country or his when it comes to policy?

whose business will he serve, the country or his when it comes to policy? It's not even a question, these days. There are 12,000 smoking guns, and a Senate that will not see them.
