Anti-Vaxxers Are Already Trying to Weaponize Powell’s DeathThe Anti-Vaxers will attempt to use Powell's death to discredit Covid vaccinations. The real question is which very "patriotic " unvaccinated worker at Walter Reed Hospital lethally infected Powell? Probably a white guy, would be my guess! TAT

The real answer is probably age. A bad head cold can kil an 84-year-old, let alone pneumonia or Covid.

There is so much virus floating around now it's very unlikely you could fix blame. The poor guy suffered from multiple myeloma, so his immune system was trashed. Vaccines can't work if your immune system is suppressed.

You mean that a chemotherapy protocol designed to kill off malignant antibody producing cells (Myeloma), might prevent the formation of protective Covid antibodies? Who would have though of that? Well, every non-brain dead person who had contact with Powell.
The families of transplant and chemotherapy patients are very aware and cautious of exposing their immunocompromised relatives to covid infection, knowing what the outcome would be.
The statistics show that health care "professionals" teachers and other folks in contact with the public, are nowhere nearly as responsible re Covid immunization as family members.
I'm sure that Powell and his entourage were scrupulous about his covid security, after all he was able to defend himself for many years as a general and Sec of State.
Butt, and its a big one, nobody can protect you from the health care system!

I would lay heavy odds his infection happened in a medical setting, since that's the one place his family and caretakers could not keep him isolated. I was extremely wary of visiting my doctor or dentist before I got vaccinated. I knew I was immunocompromised because my neurologist told me in December 2019 to stop taking my MS drug because my lymphocytes were dangerously low. After a year or so, we checked and my CD8s were in the normal range and my CD4s mostly recovered, so I had a good vaccine response.
I guess the real question is did his docs keep him on MABs every three months? Maybe they did, and antibodies are not enough: You need some killer T-cells and such. Curious minds want to know.

Even though I do not think this needs to be posted for RR Members (most seem very aware of current events).
General Collin Powell, was undergoing treatment of an autoimmune disease, he had Multiple Myeloma, a blood cancer. Both it and chemo suppress the immune system. In effect, he had no immune defense. Multiple Myeloma also is incurable. So, he had a losing hand from the get go.
So long General. One of the very few republicans (him and John McCain) I respected.
