I am a former BW employee who commented on Hal Brown's last column; my posts are still there although they have been redacted considerably. I couldn't care less if people's opinions are so solid that facts are inconvenient; it's no use trying to rain on the parade of conspiracy wonks. It's the bigoted anti-Christian tone of the comments that we can all live without.

Why is it ok for Hal Brown and others to incessantly refer to Blackwater as a Christian mercenary army, etc.? Would it be different if it were a Jewish mercenary army? Never mind the hyperbole, the fostering of hateful, bigoted notions about a religion serves to create a climate for a Christian Chrystalnacht.

There are plenty of ways to do slam BW without making pejorative smears about the Christian faith and allowing these comments cheapens the tone of the forum. The rules of this site forbid racism, sexism and anti-semitic comments, so this habit is inconsistent with the overall open minded but respectful nature here. I have pointed this out to Hal Brown on numerous occasions after his last column, but each time he blocks my email address from posting comments and consistently refuses to acknowledge my questions.

It's become disturbingly trendy to bash Christians, but that doesn't make it less hateful and mean spirited than anti-Semitic rants. This kind of "thinking" is the part of the Democratic voting block that the moderates and independents find extremely distasteful; if you folks expect to win, you should do your part not to foster such divisiveness and hate. Of course, you will not take my advice, since hate is just so much fun.

Meanwhile, when will the forum change its rules to prohibit this behavior? When will Hal Brown and others address these moral inconsistencies?

OriginalJoe,
You make the following statement:

There are plenty of ways to do slam BW without making pejorative smears about the Christian faith and allowing these comments cheapens the tone of the forum.

This assertion is not correct. It is, in fact, Blackwater which smears the Christian faith. Hal wrote the truth and supported his assertions with fact and thoughtful and sound judgment.

So aptly named, Blackwater. It will leave a deep stain.

...from Wikipedia:

[Erik Prince] now runs Prince Group, Blackwater's parent company, from an office in McLean, Virginia and also serves as a board member of Christian Freedom International, a nonprofit group with a mission of helping "Christians who are persecuted for their faith in Jesus Christ".

I've never met a Christian that separated his or her faith from their everyday life.

Here is another author linking Blackwater with those who paint the war in Iraq not as an occupation but as an apocalyptic battle by Christians against Islam.

Joe:

It bothers me more that the gov is supporting a mercenary army, not even considering their religious preferences. Let the discussion begin there.....
