Benazir Bhutto Killed in Pakistan Explosion Very sad and tragic day in Pakistan, though COMPLETELY predictable that very brave Bhutto would campaign till finally she would be assassinated. Obviously our man in charge did all he could to help prevent this. Bhutto probably planned on becoming a martyr, and may well bring down the government by her death.

I don't know which will happen first, whether a spokesman for the EIB Network will "accidentally" release a statement thanking the shooters or whether a Team Hillary aide will attempt to use the incident to gain "traction" for their candidate.
Gee, politics is exciting in them thar allied countries.
But seriously, this is a tragic but predictable end for Bhutto, if only because it was starting to look like she really was headed for a return engagement with or without Musharaff, and all reports indicated that Musharaff would share power with her "over his dead body".

I have a very bad feeling about this. Things were pretty iffy in Pakistan as it was, and this is likely to push things into overdrive. Emergency rule again? The one good thing that could come out of such a horrific act is that the radicals will lose more support among the population.
