ah, but martha, read my response to your original broken egg post. in short, many of those diners may well be whistling in the dark. I did, but cash or credit, they're still there. And my guess is totally unaware.

ah, yes, well i would agree with that. with the fed's current soft peddling of this, many folks are going rather relaxed for a while.

http://www.reuters.com/article/bondsNews/idUSN0442085320080404"The Labor Department on Friday said nonfarm employment fell by 80,000 jobs in March, more than expected and the biggest drop in five years." "One bright spot in the dreary labor report was that average weekly hours increased slightly. Economists were expecting workers' hours to remain flat or decrease slightly." WTF!?!?!? Are they serious? I think what this really means is employers are cracking the whip, getting people to work longer hours because people are afraid of losing their jobs... But I could be wrong. "Financial markets saw this as reinforcing the need for further Federal Reserve interest rate cuts." Exactly what we need!

well, i doubt you are either. in my business cutbacks have been brutal and workloads are increasing for those of us remaining. it's no secret that we're expected to do more work for the same wage. in fact, i was reading an industry report on the situation a few hours ago and i personally am looking at projects that will likely double my efforts.

The price here would be about the same in dollars as you pay in Euros(apx 10-12 dollars for a 2kg roaster) chicken breast would be somewhere in the neighborhood of 18-20 dollars for the same amount. Good that I prefer thighs<G>

Worries about a deep recession — not a shallow one — drove Federal Reserve policymakers to slash a key interest rate last month, meeting minutes show.
Even as the Fed battled in almost unprecedented fashion to stem a widening credit and housing slump, some members fretted over the possibility of a “prolonged and severe” economic downturn. It was in that environment that they voted — with two dissents — to cut its most important interest rate by three-quarters of a percentage point to 2.25 percent. That action capped the most aggressive Fed intervention in a quarter-century. MSNBC

indeed. well, misery loves company. economic fears spur so much. the 30s and early 40s in this country was populated by kooks of all varieties, not that we need any help now. but let me clear here, being prepared will make a difference. credit, save for a mortgage, is paid off. job appears to be intact. wage isn't great but it seems to suffice, at least for now. gardens are being planted, hens are laying eggs. there are some things, i suppose, that need tending, and while i am not afraid, i am ready. Hopefully, your "ready" includes a firearm, else you may be tending a garden and Kentucky Fried Wonders for someone who does have one. Unless you are relying on 911.;-) Yours, Issodhos
