US House Resolution 333 799
Quote
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search
House Resolution 333 (also abbreviated as H Res 333) is a resolution submitted to the House of Representatives on April 24, 2007 by Representative Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio) during the 110th United States Congress that, if passed, would impeach Vice President Dick Cheney on three charges. If the House approves an article of impeachment, it then moves to the Senate, which has constitutional authority to try, and with a two-thirds vote, remove a person from office.

After six months without a debate or vote on H Res 333 (either in a committee or on the floor of the House), Kucinich re-introduced its identical content as a new resolution, H Res 799, on November 6, 2007. Like H Res 333, the new resolution was also referred to the Judiciary Committee.

This thread is being started as a public service for those who want to discuss the wonderfullness of Dennis Kucinich as well as the crappy sameness of the Democrats in Congress.

Perhaps now the threads intended to explore the various flaws of Hillary Clinton will not attract posters who really really want to discuss the topics associated with this thread.

As I posted on another thread, Nancy Pelosi is facing an angry mob in San Francisco because she's failed to do some of her duties as Speaker of the House. There are those who are fighting her re-election to congress from the 8th District in California.

As Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi should "allow" the "process" to decide the impeachment issue - instead of her looking down the road and coming to her own conclusion independently.

If it turns out she was correct all along - then kudos for her ability to read tea leaves.

Nancy Pelosi needs to allow the political process to do its job and not impede the political process any further simply because she feels her way is best.

Well, perhaps we want to ignore precedent and practicality, but the Judiciary Committee is where the Articles of Impeachment would be heard and drafted. Not the House en masse. And that is where the matter has been referred. Nixon was impeached on articles of impeachment forwarded from the Judiciary Committee. Ditto Bill Clinton. The impeachment of the Vice President now sits, amazingly, in the House Judiciary Committee, referred thereto by the House on a well publicized motion properly allocating Saint Dennis' bill.

So if you want to rant and rail, at least direct the invective where it belongs: on the Judiciary Committee. Membership is listed here:

in case you want to contact one or more of them. Note that Speaker Pelosi is not a member. And I think a minimal amount of research will disclose that Chairman Conyer is not going to refrain from hearings on an issue he considers appropriate because the Speaker does not want him to do so.

Thank you very much for your post loganrbt. I appreciate the education. I really do. I will also pass on this information to others as well.

(Amazing that a lot of folks don't know/understand the political process ain't it? I think a lot of people are simply responding to Nancy Pelosi's "impeachment is off the table" remark.)

...and thank you for linking the House Judiciary committee that we plain folk can contact those committee members to voice our wants.

Here is the Judicial Committees email address should you wish to contact the committee and voice your opinion of impeaching Vice-President Cheney.

Here is my email: [Linked Image from i48.photobucket.com]

Dear Sirs:

Based on PBSs Frontline series, Bush's War, I feel there is ample evidence to conduct impeachment proceedings against Vice-President Richard Cheney.

Speaking at a church in San Franciso recently, Daniel Ellsberg said, 'To rule impeachment off the table is very much like ruling the constitution off the table.' Impeachment is one of the checks and balances built into our constitution and system of government as a safeguard against tyranny. However, an opposition party or at least opposition is necessary for this system to work as it was designed. So far, despite their mandate, the democratic party has failed miserably to provide the necessary opposition. Everyone- no matter your politics- owes Dennis a 'thank you' and support.
