How will several major media "shows" react to this drastic shift in the political landscape?
Will Fox & its various shows find they have no branch of gov't to elevate to a religious level, and become an even more negative purveyor of "news"?
Will Keith Olbermann become such a cheerleader of the "utter repudiation" of the Bush White House, that his show has no edge to find come inauguration day? Back to sports, Keith?
Will participants in so many shows simply look at each other & get stuck on "what now?"? Can about half the opinion/news shows take a temporary or permanent sabbatical? Or will the clean sweep by the Dems result in a more divisive, rabid us v. them set of political talk shows?

Good grief, Bob -- I'm still trying to figure out what I'M going to have to talk about - you want me to come up with conversations for Olbermann and Fox? How about Stewart and Colbert too????

(laughing) Them too, though I think they'll have a much easier time with it. Kind of reminds me of an appearance at the National Press Club I saw Dave Barry make shortly after Bill Clinton's first election. He began nearly every story line with "Because of the failed Clinton Administration".

Hey, even Bill Maher now has to rethink and retool! A couple of his funniest recent monologues dealt with that very subject.
Tonight he was chatting with Larry King and I thought he was going to go there again while talking about Obama, but all he said was:
"Yes, I think he needs to use Colin Powell, and ya know what? Both of those guys have very similar personalities, the calm cool collected thing. I mean NOTHING makes Barack go higher or lower...hell with President, I want him as MY BROKER!"
I kept expecting him to get into something about Obama not giving him much to work with. Ummmm, that might actually be true for a little while, and the laffy-pundos are going to have to search for the slightest slippups to capitalize on until they get a feel for the Obama groove.
I can just hear it now:
"s***! This guy is just too DAMN well spoken! He doesn't say "noo-kyoo-lurr" he doesn't mess up ANYTHING!"

Don't worry. They all need to make money, and they can retool a lot faster than, say, GM.
There will be a brief - a VERY brief - pause for decency's sake, and then they'll be off & running...or did no one see Jon Stewart's rip-up of the Obama infomercial?

doesn't say "noo-kyoo-lurr" Speaking of, I am somewhat surprised no one mentioned that Gov. Palin mispronounces it the same way Pres. Bush does...

The only place left for the media is Pravda, or maybe the Enquirer.

You know, Ma, I have to thank you; your "Pravda" line reminded me of something I'd completely forgotten, and brought a smile to my face - a great way to start the morning! If you'd like to share it, here's a link. Truly, thanks for the smile!
