This actually happened to me. I got in an argument with my doctor about whether the "new plan" would cover "illegal immigrants." I finally told him I didn't want to hear his politics while I was paying him for his time.

I would have no objection to my doctor opposing health care reform because he or she was concerned they would lose some of their income. But if my doctor opposed it because he fell for the lies being passed around on the internet and talk radio like "death panels" and "government takeover", then I would be concerned: I prefer "reality-based" medicine, meaning what's in the textbooks, peer-reviewed scientific publications, conference papers, etc. I want a doctor who cares enough to keep up with advances, check facts, run tests to make a real diagnosis, and in general to use the Scientific Method.

Accepting wild political rumors without checking facts may be a sign your doctor is in the wrong profession.

Of course, I wouldn't pay much attention to anything your chiropractor says along political or even "scientific" themes. Pretty much all the stuff they believe and promote beyond massage and working joints is BS, anyway. Just ask your physician! ROTFMOL

Guess what?
I've been cleaning house!
All my friends who are spreading around all the BS and scary stories about health care reform, I try to reason with them.
I don't expect them to suddenly agree with my point of view, I just expect them to debate using facts not fairy tales.
If they do, they can remain my friends.
The ones that don't, they're not my friends anymore!

If I get the good fortune to see a doctor while this is being batted around, and he lays this trip on me, I'm getting another doctor.

If the person at my bank runs this baloney by me, new bank.
It's very convenient that this issue is separating the morons and jackasses for me, and it's a special opportunity for me to remove the people in my life who are too stupid for me to have to deal with!
