The other day I sent an email to Senator Bill Nelson, D-FL, telling him I didn't like the fact that he voted against the finance committee health care bill. I got this email today:
"I'm writing you because I know that you're interested in health care reform.
There’s been a lot of confusing information flying around about the latest developments on health care reform. Most of the media is declaring as dead the idea of a public insurance plan. They’re wrong.
A public insurance plan may be down, but it’s not out.
As The New York Times reported on Wednesday, the Senate Finance Committee rejected two Democratic proposals to create a government insurance plan to keep private insurers in check.
Leadership tells me one of those plans, by Senator Schumer, still has a shot at being included in the final bill. And that’s the plan I voted for. I believe it offers help for consumers through fair competition to private insurers.
While it was defeated in the committee by 13-10, Senator Schumer promised right after the vote he’ll keep fighting to get his proposal in the broader health care bill. He’ll have my continued backing.
We’re going to keep fighting to make health insurance available and affordable for all Americans.
Sincerely, Senator Bill Nelson"

I don't know, Emma. Sounds to me as if certain Democrats are holding out for more campaign money, free health scans, and more walking around money from the healthcare industry pimps.

Watchdogs: Health industry giving more to Congress than thought I wonder how Senator Nelson made out contribution wise? As the Honorable wrote: We’re going to keep fighting to make health insurance available and affordable for all Americans. How about those who have lost their jobs, possibly homes, and are a car payment or two behind? You're going to keep fighting for them by first fining them and then possibly jailing them if they can't afford to ante up the premiums?

Wow! he addressed your comment. Both senators in Indiana just pop out form letters. I have written several different letters with questions and I got the same response on every one that had little to do with my letter. The only thing they had in common was the word Healthcare.

Here's a good discussion about Schumer's ideas: Schumer

A couple of years ago a friend and I took different positions on the same issue and wrote to one of our Senators, John Kyl. We received the same letter in response. The response was crafted in such a way that it supported either position. I can say that my other Senator, John McCain, would never do that. He simply doesn't respond. Or at least he's never responded to my calls, email or letters.
