Ever heard the saying “Don't put anything in email you don't want to read in the paper tomorrow?" Here's the origin of the line:

1804 Anglican missionary to Persia, Henry Martyn wrote in his journal: 'Corruption always begins the day, but morning prayer never fails to set my mind in a right frame.'

Henry, Henry, way too much information...

Don't write anything in a journal you don't want people snickering at long after you're dead. Shredders are cheap, people!

Love bagels, could never get the point of lox nor learn to like the stuff. But thanks for the buffet. It was yummy with just the cream cheese!

Love the fact that everything in the U.S. was "discovered" by Europeans!

And when Sherman was done with Atlanta, he set about exterminating the indigenous population of the rest of the country. Not sure there is a final count of how many Sioux, Arapahoe, Commanche, Cherokee, etc., were put to death on his orders. The man should be ripped from his grave and . . .

Nice collection today, Mellow. And thanks again everyone for the games yesterday -- I wasted a lot of time and perfected the art of avoiding writing my research paper. But I've slapped myself silly and will NOT fall for that today!

OOPS - gotta ago!

What a wonderful opener, Mellow!! Informative and entertaining...and I love the little comments along the way!

Someone (don't remember who) my parents listened to on the radio in the 1950's would regularly refer to the Algonquin Round Table and quote its members. Perhaps that's when my penchant for sarcastic wit was conceived.

It's a CVS pharmacy -- you can tell by the sign for the "Extra Care" card in the lower picture.

Wow, Mellow.
Just fabulous. The formatting is amazing.

That's my home town up there. A nice to wave to from a distance (oh the traffic is hell).
LOL, I recognize the platter of food too. Seen that quite a few times but no I've not tried lox and don't plan to.
I love the music too.

Naomi, re your comments concerning my brother from yesterday, thank you. Me too. Maybe now he'll get the help he needs.

Hi all.
It's still warm here. I can't believe it. We've not had one single freeze yet. The bugs are about to carry us away.

See y'all later!

I love lox and cream cheese on bagels. Had my first taste in 1968 when I visted a friend on Long Island. She had decided to "educate" me about dfifferent foods. I also had a kiwi then - the first time I'd tasted kiwi.

In the early 70's I was in New York, again, for the annual Toy Fair. Went out to eat in a Jewish restaurant and ordered lox, cream cheese and a bagel. The waiter, who apparently sensed I was from the Midwest (could it have been my accent), asked if I knew what was in the "bagel burger" that I had ordered. I probably surprised him when I told him I knew and really liked them.

This country's food tastes have become quite sophisticated when I think of what bland food we ate just 35 years ago.

Critical thinking - our other national deficit.
