Nice opener, Olyve and Scoutgal! I do like that Cornmeal.
I'm flying off to Chicago this morning for a two-fold purpose. Giving a presentation at the annual conference of the Comparative and International Education Society. But the bulk of my time will be in the company of my son John who is a guest instructor at Benedictine University. We haven't seen each other since November 2007 so it will be nice to actually speak in person rather than on instant messenger. Looking forward to a tour of the remaining buildings from the 1893 Columbian Exposition (as depicted in "Devil in the White City."
See ya!

It's another rainy dreary cold day here in the Sunshine State, a perfect day for baking! Rum Raisin Nut Bars are in the oven. A loaf of Bread is next, and I'm thinking about cookies. Chopped Cherries and Walnuts for sure, should I add the White Chocolate Chips or not?

IMO, Greger, a question about whether or not to do chocolate is never a question. The answer is there before the question is asked.
But...
that's just me... . And given a choice, I'd opt for dark chocolate with cherries and walnuts. But if white chocolate is what's there, I say go for it. (Unless it's too late already. )
I agree...Cornmeal is good! Never heard of them before.
About that first monolog Paul Newman does in the film clip...not an easy one. If you listen to what the words are...and then think about how natural, easy and spontaneous he makes them sound...it's pretty impressive.
Speaking of impressive...that sure is some list of birthdays for today!

Right now, we are getting torrents of rain and some thunder and lightning. My dogs are cowering under my desk, and whimpering(poor babies!) like crazy.
