I'm currently working on a project for a hog farmer in Ubly, Michigan with 7000 sows, he will have a simple payback in 4 years, not to mention all the other perks for this,
When methane production exceeds consumption it will be scrubbed and resold as commercial quality natural gas.

Holy Crow! 7000 sows is a heap o' pork, not to mention a heap o' pig poop. Which, of course, translates into a lot of fuel.

Yeah, thats alot of pork, I used to pheasant hunt there back in the day, can't no more though.
The environmental damage has been considerable, but most of the "engineers" say the technology isn't here, I beg to differ though.

PS, I've always been here, many thanks to Skyhawk for rescuing my account.

Not to mention the intensity; the stench of large numbers of pigs is second, I think, only to skunk.

One single good sized pig all by itself can tear the ass out of your back yard inside of a week and have your neighbors howling for your neck (along with the pig's) at the next town council meeting. That is, if you could possibly afford to feed it enough and keep a strong enough fence to keep it out of your neighbors yards and garbage cans! A single adult pig produces a sizable amount of waste enough to leave a base coat on my 40 X 100 fenced in back yard (surrounding our 12 x 18 shed which we will now have to wade through urine and feces to get to). I shudder to think how we would pile up the next week's waste, never mind live with the stench behind us. I would expect the first mailbox bomb in three or four days.

Actually, I would prefer the smell of skunk. It is not so much the number of pigs (or any other animal) as it is the concentration of large numbers of pigs in confined spaces that results in the stench and environmental damage -- all the while protected by the politicos of the area. It also represents wrongful treatment of the animals.

And it easily could if every toilet in America was routed to an anaerobic digester instead of a water treatment plant.
The remaining water could always be routed over TO the water treatment plant SANS SOLIDES.
