Garage-sale trove of Ansel Adams photos is worth millions
Wow. Check out these photos.

Quote
Each weekend, Americans decamp en masse for garage sales and antique stores, searching for hidden gems. And they often find themselves indulging in the idle reverie that their quests might turn up an actual treasure — an item of great value that the seller isn't aware of. This is one of those stories.

Ten years ago Rick Norsigian, a painter in Fresno, Calif., was making the garage-sale circuit in Southern California when he ran across a box of glass negatives. The owner was asking $70 for the 65 negatives of nature photography, but Norsigian managed to get the price down to $45.

They're now believed to be the lost works of famed photographer Ansel Adams, and experts estimate that they're worth $200 million, CNN reports.

A guy looking around in a non-profit thrift store stumbled upon the design mural of Paris' original water/sewer system. I don't remember exactly what he paid, but it was under $100, and he sold it for somewhere between 100k-200k. Not quite the same as Ansel Adam glass negatives, but not bad, either.

I just heard that the Ansel Adams estate is getting involved. These negatives were removed from a burned building... without the knowledge or approval of MR. Adams.

Yeah... there's always a story behind the story.

Guess that's what makes life so interesting... We hear an unusual or outrageous story and react... more often than not, there's a follow-up that puts a whole new slant on the subject.

The trick is knowing when to jump in.
