Here's to hoping that the SCOTUS upholds both California's and Massachusetts' decision(and the other four states) to allow same-sex marriage and the strikedown of DOMA!

And in a stunning revelation former Republican Party Chairman Ken Mehlman just came out. I don't know if he should be congratulated or flogged. Think of all the times snotty conservatives stood in judgment of gay people, and there was Ken. Could he have done something to influence the group or would it have been the kiss of death and the end of his career? But more importantly, how was he able to stomach the viewpoints of his brethren all while knowing that his own sexuality represented a threat to them and would mark him as the antichrist?

BUMP!
I just want to know if Ken Mehlman felt anything while having to do what millions of gays do every day, live a lie in order to survive.
But Ken did far more than that. He perpetrated a lie, he enabled liars, he empowered them, he gave legitimacy to them and made those who support liars feel as though they were on the right side of the issue.
Ken Mehlman used the lie he lived to give power to evil people who wish to destroy the lives of gay people.
I just want to know how he sleeps at night.

The general response that I have seen in the gay community to Mehlman's announcement is "throw him back".
He could, with some hard work and unusual frankness, play an important role in the transition of our culture toward fairness and away from bigotry.
We shall see.

I just want to know how he sleeps at night. If the GOP were still in control, and Mehlman was still heading up the RNC, he would not have come out nor thrown any support toward overturning Prop 8. I guarantee it. Keith and Dan Savage discuss Mehlman I will never have sympathy for this man. As Dan indicates, it comes as absolutely NO surprise (at least to gays) that Mehlman is gay. His new tricky 'gays should support the GOP against 'the real enemy' is more b.s. than I can stand. It's like saying "sure, we made it bad for gays, but those guys would make it worse". Gee, that's compelling. When I start seeing "Allah Hates Fags" signs at every gay event and planes start crashing into gay bars let me know. Until then my focus will be on the enemy at home and make no mistake Mr. Mehlman, despite your pathetic pandering now, that includes you.
