Your source, please. I can find no proposal from the Obama administration that will raise taxes on the person making 40,000 per year. I really would like to read that text so I can avoid being bamboozled. Please point me to the specifics.

Fiscal conservatism might say don't incur these debts, but that horse left the barn years ago.
And in the in interest of partisan bickering I will point out that the lions share of the debt we now owe belongs to the Republican Party. The "fiscal conservatives" whose chosen leader expanded government and the national debt at an unprecedented rate. Now they cry foul when the necessary funds are raised to pay the bills. I don't argue that Democrats and Republicans all are responsible for this mess. I merely point out that congress was controlled for 12 years by republicans and the executive branch for eight. The opposition was shoved down, ignored and practically called treasonous for any disagreement they may have had with the seemingly unstoppable president Bush and the Congress that supported him in every money grab and power grab that he made. As you are well aware, Ma, the show is on the other foot now. The Democrats would choose to spend the money on helping Americans live rather than helping Iraqis die.

Not sure what you are referencing?

Hey Ardy,

Hmmm, you might want to flip back to page 12, about half way down or so. You'll find a rather long posting that I put up, but just look for the link with Clinton's name...and below is a chronology starting in 1993.

You overlook the original explosion of the deficit which occurred during the tenure of Ronald Reagan. Also a Republican. A Republican who ran in part on the mantra of a Constitutional amendment to require balanced budgets, yet never submitted a single balanced budget in 8 tries.

[addendum]Even when the Senate was under the control of the Republican Majority Leader (1995-98), Reagan submitted deficit budgets to Congress.

You won't be provided with a source because one doesn't exist. The "tax hike for those making more than $40,000" was a campaign "theme" (lie) from the McCain campaign which was thoroughly debunked.

That also was my understanding, but I believe Ma to be an honorable person and am confident he would not make the assertion without a source to back it up. So I will look forward to his response so that we both may be enlightened.

The Massachusetts Republican is indeed an honest man, let me vouch for him here, he writes what he believes. As is possible with all of us, sometimes he, I, or you may be wrong. This doesn't necessarily change our convictions or beliefs.

My assumption is that I missed something; thus my request for the source of his information.

This does not compute.

Oh, I didn't overlook Him, Logan. It just wasn't necessary to seek more Republican mishandling of the economy than the one in our back yard right now. I also didn't mention Calvin Coolidge, a Republican whose policies led to the Financial woes inherited by the Hoover Administration and eventually the First Great Depression. Franklin Delano Roosevelt got us out of that one. You will note of course that he is vilified by Modern Republicans because he pulled their asses out of the fire the last time their mismanagement caused a stock market crash.
