I'm not willing to credit President Obama with the rise in the market any more than I was willing to credit him with the fall.
I will begin to credit the new administration with success when I have seen a 6 month upward trend rather than these fits and starts upward followed by rapid tumbles.

If there is a significant upward tick in the Dow (which is not to be confused with "the economy") over the next six month, rest assured that credit will be given to President Bush for the tax cuts that were the centerpiece of his administration.rolleyes

Don't forget Ronald Reagan, Chuck....

A well reasoned argument is like a diamond: impervious to corruption and crystal clear - and infinitely rarer.

Here, as elsewhere, people are outraged at what feels like a rigged game -- an economy that won't respond, a democracy that won't listen, and a financial sector that holds all the cards. - Robert Reich

Very true, NWP. When President Reagan left office in January 1989, the DJIA was 2235. Yesterday's close was 7170. That's an increase of 4935; over 221%!

Thank God for the political wisdom and economic genius of the "Great Communicator"! grin

I don't particularly care who's responsible at this point...just glad to see a wee bit of recovery.

It is well established fact that the 313% increase in the DJIA between January 1991 and December 2000 was directly attributable to the actions of the Reagan administration.

Bulls make it 4 for 4: Wall Street now on its best run since November after a seesaw session

Like most everyone posting here except the originator of the thread, I am not prepared to give credit to the President for this "miraculous turnaround". Neither prosperity nor calamity happen overnight in the economic world, nor in a week.

I think we may still see that 6000 point bottom. But with each passing day without a decline it becomes less likely.
