Amid the frenzy yesterday, Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden made a plea for the 47-year-old churchgoer from Blackburn, West Lothian, to stay just the same.

Amanda, 38, told ITV News: “I won’t let Simon Cowell take her to his dentist and I certainly won’t let her near his hairdresser.

First of all, Susan Boyle doesn't need Amanda whatshername's permission to do anything.

Second, Boyle was on one of the morning shows yesterday. It appeared that her hair had been colored and she had a "new outfit" they said.

There's nothing wrong with any of that and I suspect that Ms. Boyle will do what she wants to in any case.

Let's hope so.

The point of hiring beauticians is to make Susan happy.
If it doesn't make her happy then they should forgo the idea.
The point of hiring a dentist, and nutritionists however, is for her health.
She's 47 years old, and if she's going to be taking on a tough recording and/or touring schedule she is going to need to concentrate on her health or she won't be able to deal with the rigors of a very tough and demanding schedule.
So I hope that she takes as much advice and treatment as possible so that she will be at her best healthwise.

And I suspect that she did not go on that show because her fondest wish was foreverything in her life to remain exactly like it was.... regardless of how we may feel about it.

The whole art is to make it all look like live theater, when in fact it is as planned as a magician's trick.

Exactly. Like reality shows. 'Reality' gets a bit twisted when there are cameras & equipment up the ying-yang.

If Ms. Boyle is blessed by being happy with who she is then no team of make over people can make her happy. Why must she look more like everyone wants her to look? What a truly fortunate person she is if she is already happy with herself. All this is more of a statement of what we have become rather than what Ms. Boyle is. Those of you old enough to remember Kate Smith can benefit from a bit of reflection.

Absolutely, Mick. In fact, when I showed my husband the video of Susan Boyle, we both thought of Kate Smith. Although as I recall, Kate Smith was much heavier. Boyle is really not that "heavy."
