Morning all!

Cool photo of the Serpent Mound. One minor correction, though. It's not a burial mound but most likely a ceremonial or effigy structure. According to the Wikipedia article, there were some burial sites in the immediate vicinity, but the burials took place more than 1000 years prior to construction of the mound.

This overhead sketch of the mound structure is quite interesting. Apparently there's some debate about the oval object that appears in the mouth of the serpent and is variously thought to be an egg, the sun, the body of a frog, or merely the remnant of a platform. Having seen snakes raiding bird nests and swallowing eggs, I'm going along with the egg theory.
