And I probably would not provide statistics to show that it rains a lot in Western Oregon, either.;-) Yours, Issodhos THe difference being that if you chose to provide rain statistics proving your assertion about western Oregon--- you would be able to provide those statistics. Apparently you are also a master of nuance

Mellow isn't a moderator at all any more, Schlack, and hasn't been for quite some time. I have an question, but it's only rhetorical - why does a two-bit crook who was bagman for a bunch of small-time sneak thieves have any voice at all, let alone a national one? Why is he not held in permanent and total disgrace? Jeeepers. I am not (a two bit) crook. Sorry mellow didnt realise!

Apparently you are also a master of nuance Hmmm... you actually mistoke my comment for nuance? Fascinating. Yours, Issodhos P.s. Now, that was nuance.;-)

A well reasoned argument is like a diamond: impervious to corruption and crystal clear - and infinitely rarer.
Here, as elsewhere, people are outraged at what feels like a rigged game -- an economy that won't respond, a democracy that won't listen, and a financial sector that holds all the cards. - Robert Reich

I particularly liked this quote: At her Senate confirmation hearing more than a decade ago, she said, "I don't believe we should bend the Constitution under any circumstance. It says what it says. We should do honor to it." Hardly meaningful unless we know what she thinks it says. Yours, Issodhos

Hardly meaningful unless we know what she thinks it says. It's difficult to know what people think beyond the words they say or write. You seem fairly certain, Issodhos, that when you read the Constitution your interpretation is correct. That you know what the Founders were saying when they wrote the words, what they were thinking, in fact. I seldom have any argument with your interpretation and doubt seriously if I will find fault in hers. I would hope simply that this Justice will interpret the Constitution as written rather than as it might be twisted to suit some "Agenda" or "Ideology".

That would probably depend on whether she was immersed in and became a devotee of Critical Legal Studies (or Theory, if you prefer) while matriculating at Yale Law School. Any number of legal beagles seem to have been infected with it.;-) Yours, Issodhos

Oh, you mean, understanding the law, Iss?
