Here's an incredible video that has been sent...the motorcycle cops drive right into the crowd. Then, apparently, the crowd turns on them. At the end, a group in the crowd has rescued one of the cops.

I think your gut is wrong in this case. if the violence develops however i dont think we will be seeing such acts of brotherhood.
part to the tweeting messages are that the repression is being conducted by lebanese imports, probably an exaggeration or propaganda, theres enough fundies there for beating duties.

read an interesting comment last night, think it was on Juan Cole's site. The protests could now be self sustaining. If anyone protester is killed there will be a funeral and automatically another opportunity (and grievance) to protest.
