Aren't 'tasteless jokes' always the best kind? Example: A guy and a girl are laying in bed after sex. The guy wonders why the girl is always rubbing his testicles after. The guy finally asks, "Why are you always rubbing my testicles after sex?" The girl says, "Because I miss mine."

This young lady has been invited to appear on television shows and has accepted and answered questions. It it appears to be the same to you then go ahead and make tasteless jokes about her. I don't imagine Levi called Tyra and asked for the chance to spill his guts. Quite the other way around, in fact, and they even offered to pay him to do it. Hmmm...do we have a double standard here? Levi accepted an invitation to answer questions.

Levi, pardon me, is not the point. Letterman wasn't making jokes about Levi last week. Levi is no long connected to the Palins, which makes him no longer famous.

My point is, and I do have one ( ), is that two unknowns, became famous, and instead of going back into obscurity, chose to expose, as it were, their private lives on the public stage. Therefore... ...said two are now 'public figures' and susceptible to jokes about their sex lives - they brought it on themselves... Hey! Bristol Palin made it into the Urban Dictionary - that's good enough 'public figure' for me!! Bristol Palin

What makes you think this, Rick? I posted the link from Saturday Night Live. I just spent 39 minutes downloading the skit you are referring to, Rick (dialup is a btch). There is nothing in the skit that supports your claim that Palin participated in a skit that alluded to her husband engaging in incest. Yours, Issodhos

Issy, I sincerely apologize that I linked the wrong link. ...but here is the correct link. Please accept my apologies. I got the two skits mixed up - I remembered wrong and connected the two. ...but not a peep out of Sarah regarding that skit. However, supporters were outraged.

Besides these are professionals and they know that a sexual comment about Willow and A-Rod isn't in the least amusing so why would they write it? Perhaps, Hal, after seeing 10 months of hatred and vile and vicious attacks directed at Governor Palin's children and husband, beginning almosts immediately after her nomination as McCain's running mate, they just assumed that they could say anything they wanted to about her and her family and there would continue to be no repercussions. And by the rationalizations and excuses being ginned up in this thread, their assumption was partially warranted.;-) Yours, Issodhos

So, we can agree that Governor Palin did not " participate" in a skit that portrayed her husband as engaging in incest, and indeed was not even in the skit you and mama's link to a huffpo article reference. As to the YouTube video, of what I assume to be a SNL skit, it struck me as being more a spoof on the media for some of the baseless savagery directed at the Governor's family. Yours, Issodhos

So, 12 pages all because a comic told a tasteless joke?

Actually, Phil, there is some reason for this discussion, and that is whether the children (particularly minor children) should have to carry the burden of their parents' actions in the public arena, and how to decide whether their participation in that arena is voluntary. I just checked, and the "was the Adam Lambert vote on American Idol" thread ran 7 pages. I wasn't a participant so can't say whether it had a more weighty point!
