Perhaps, Hal, after seeing 10 months of hatred and vile and vicious attacks directed at Governor Palin's children and husband, beginning almosts immediately after her nomination as McCain's running mate, they just assumed that they could say anything they wanted to about her and her family and there would continue to be no repercussions. And by the rationalizations and excuses being ginned up in this thread, their assumption was partially warranted.;-)

Issodhos I may have missed the hatred and vile and vicious attacks you refer to. Maybe I don't read those websites. There will always be crude insensitive people out there and with anyone able to post on the Internet I assume vile things were put out there about the Palin family, including Sarah Palin, just as there were about Obama.

i find it ironic that while we go on and on with this topic a sarahpac ad is to my left on this thread. click on it and tell me that she has not exploited this whole mess for the purpose of keeping her name in the public eye with hopes for a national bid in 2012. go ahead, tell me. if i am right, and will say i am, then she is the one who should be deeply ashamed, not the hapless comics of late night who we expect to be tasteless from time to time. no, she is the one who sees opportunity AT ALL COSTS and plunges headlong into a faux controversy for her own glorification.

Besides these are professionals and they know that a sexual comment about Willow and A-Rod isn't in the least amusing so why would they write it? Exploiting children - anyone's children - for gain is wrong, and especially when the children are humiliated and ridiculed. But, hey, it's politics and anyone and everyone is/was fair game. But it wasn't politics (although it is now), it was comedy (or at least was supposed to be). Why is no one outraged at the shot Letterman took at Alex Rodriguez? Why aren't the Yankee's out there defending their "star"? How could he defame the game of Baseball like that? Really, he should be ashamed! The pattern with Sarah Palin, throughout he political career, has been honing fake "outrage." This is just typical. I'm with those who thought "oh, that joke bombed," and moved on, rather than those who thought, "how could he!?" Alex Rodriguez was the butt of the joke, my friends, Bristol/Sarah were just the punchline. It should have gotten 30 seconds of attention, and done. Good GOD, we're talking about Sarah PALIN, here. Why? She is a never-was, a pathetic loser, a brainless twit. She doesn't deserve as much attention as a deodorant ad... at least that is a useful product.
