Our outrage isn't for Gov. Palin-it's for Willow Palin. Alex Rodriguez is a public figure and an adult. Willow is a 14 year old girl.

Did Governor Palin become overly outraged and make a fool of herself? Yes

Is the Media and everyone else(including us) making too much of this? Yes

Are public figures fair game? Yes

Are the children of public figures deserving of this mean and cruel crap, because of actions by their parents? No

maybe you're missing my point. gov. palin is an opportunist and she is capitalizing on her children to advance her position. ok, letterman was wrong, but HOW wrong is gov. palin?

So a respectable and respectful parent would not place her children in positions where they can easily be exploited!

The mother bear who walks her cub into a pack of wolves should be condmened; the wolves who attack the cub may have done something reprehensible in the minds of those who value bear cubs over hungry wolves, but they are simply being wolves. Want to ban late night comedy? Go ahead. Until it is gone, political parents have the ultimate responsibility to keep their kids out of these situation!

Oh for heaven's sake - on a general and historical level, and just on GP I guess I assumed that didn't need to be stated.

On a specific level, there wasn't anything wrong with her taking her daughter to the ballgame.

Once again - the focus, at least on this thread, is (maybe I can summarize) how much of a minor's life can be placed in the public domain due to the position of her parents. You want to talk about parental rights? That's a whooole different story, don't you think?

you're kidding me, right? there is nothing wrong with her going to the b game. what is wrong is the way she has USED her children both up front and from behind to advance her position. she is part of a hypocritical movement of faux conservative xtians who believe their families are warriors in some imaginary cultural war in which they seek to save not only their souls but mine as well. we excuse the bleep out of me for expressing absolute outrage that some of this lowbrow, idiotic caliber can even be take seriously for one moment. she is, in a word, a shrew. i'd use the other words but they would be censored.

Actually, 14 and counting. It takes a lot of chatter to rationalize nastiness in the name of party politics.;-)

Y'know I despise Sarah Palin more than almost anybody. I still just don't see how that makes it okay to make obscene jokes about children. Hers or anybody else's. She has tried to use the cuteness factor just like the Obamas have, if some wingnut had made this same joke about the older Obama daughter would that be okay too?
