people keep suggesting that this thread is absurd and a waste of time and while i get that there is a bigger issue at hand here, i believe. gov. palin is a lightning rod and has captured the hearts of roughly half of our population. it is, i blieve, symptomatic of people's inabilty to weed through rhetoric and look at substance. people would rather feel good than get down and dirty and face reality in hopes of solving problems. and to be fair, the same goes for pres. obama and his ardent supporters, however pres. obama does not set off my screaming red lights the way gov. palin does. as well, this issue is about emotion and how we feel about ourselves, not about substance. i and others believe she used this is a chance to keep her name out there, and while doing so perpetuate the notion that she has the pulse of the nation and can make you feel better about yourself. in short, like so many pols, she is a snake oil salesman. the real key for me is to feel good about who i am and where i am no matter what. i know that many of you take the same approach to life, yet so many do not. they are plugged into every electronic orifice, waiting for that next big thing to make them feel different, better etc. it is a con game in the extreme.

you mean like when I defended michelle Obama's "... first time ... really proud" statement by pointing out that the line was being misquoted and when corrected it did not have the same connotation?

Or when I defended President Obama against charges that his "lipstick on a pig" remark was not directed at Governor Palin? Why, thanks, loganrbt.:-)

P.s. Oh, by the way, in contrast to the treatment of Governor Palin's family, Michelle Obama and her daughters have been handled with kid gloves. So it is disengenuous of you to imply otherwise.

Oh, I doubt that, 2wins. As long as it is directed against an elected official who is a Republican (or at least a non-Powell Republican;-)) you should have no problem. After all, one moderator referred to her as a "pathetic loser" and a "brainless twit", and another moderator referred to Senator McCain as a lying sack of excrement", so you should be safe.:-))

Beggin yer pardon there, 2wins, but the title of the thread is BANGING SARAH PALIN'S DAUGHTERS not "Banging the 18 year old" not "Banging Sarah Palin" but her daughters. Plural, The 18 year old, the 14 year old, the preteen, and the baby. The joke was specifically, if mistakenly, aimed at the 14 year old. You guys might feel like crude sexual jokes about children are cool and wonderful humor, I don't. I'd be happy to stop arguing if you'd stop telling me its ok for old men to talk about screwing a 14 year old on national tv and that it's funny and ok because it's Sarah Palin's Daughter.

I didn't miss the point. I think that Gov. Palin deserves everything she gets. But the Palin children do not.

So I'll add this;

1) Is Gov. Palin trying to make political hay out of everything she does, in order to keep her name in the Media(and doing a poor job of it)? Yes

2) Do her children deserve to be targets because of their mother's self-serving actions? No

So having gotten to "no" should the pilloried person be the one who brought the targets onto the rifle range or the folks who aimed at the targets she presented?

I would say the one who does the shooting is responsible for who gets hit.. Wolves, bears, marksmen, targets, you will make any excuse to make it ok to turn the children into sex objects. Creepy.

Governor Palin needed to strenuously object to a joke that by every indication was aimed at Willow, a minor. Once Letterman apologized and explained that the joke was about 18 year old Bristol I hope the governor consulted with her older child and got her go ahead before she defended her.

Those who want to side with Palin will call Bristol a child. There's no definitive line between being a child and a young adult. Maybe it has to do with maturity. But it seems to me that part of good parenting would be treating your 18 year old like a young adult.
