UNLESS, it affects others. Here, I think the worst thing about this whole sordid mess is his sneaking off for a planned ten days without turning over the powers of the governorship.

It would seem to me that he has acted in ways that would be grounds for dismissal if done by, say, a janitor working in the state capital building. He did not show up for work for several consecutive days, did not call in and explain why, and, being someone who was supposed to be on call 24/7, he made it still made it impossible to be contacted. He should be told resignation is not an option because he is fired -- or will be as soon as impeachment proceeding can be concluded.
