You are very fortunate, Mickey. About four and a half years ago I made radical changes to my diet and started exercising. There are some medical problems that diet and exercise can't cure, unfortunately.

Indeed, and there always will be, aging being what it is. But the good news is that you likely avoided other debilitating conditions by being proactive. That's my goal. I want to avoid all I possibly can for as long as I can. And I don't want to take pills.

Just want to mention that I developed my autoimmune disease in my mid-twenties so it isn't an issue of aging. I didn't have to wait until I was old. My only age-related issue is the hypertension and I know people much younger than I am who have hypertension. I made my lifestyle changes as part of quitting smoking 4 1/2 years ago.

I don't care if anybody takes pills or not. I am grateful for mine.

Hell hath no fury.
Who do I start with the insurance company (yes), the pharmacy, the doctor??

My daughter will have to take medicine for the rest of her life for her seizure disorder although her disorder is so mild I haven't seen her have one since she was very little.
The only seizures she's had in recent years were related to pregnancies and hormone changes until very recently.
The 18th of this month and last February.

Apparently insurance companies require pharmacies to switch over to generic brands if there is one available. Without her knowledge they did that last February.
She got none of this...

After the fact she has done the research and found out what they switched her over to has many cases of problems with it.

Now here she is....again with two young children, a husband who needs to travel a lot with his job and can't drive for 6 months...again in a very short period of time.
She's even made the difficult decision to change the children's school to the neighborhood school instead of the charter one she had to drive them to.
She gave up her gym membership and her yoga and belly dancing.
Yes she's consulted a lawyer and yes she's got grounds for a suit but she's house bound with two children and a traveling husband and just doesn't want to take that on.

Mr O has cholesterol issues. He takes that red yeast rice. We're mostly vegetarians and eat little saturated fat. He cut back on sweets a little more, beer too and lost another 10 pounds and was able to bring his down 50 points last time.
He's going for another blood test in a couple of weeks to test it again.

Giving up cigarettes was a good move, Emma. I know that was difficult. As a former smoker who enjoyed the hell out of it I know tough it can be to given them up. I'm hoping they have cigarettes on the other side. It'll make the transition from one form to another a lot easier.

Cigarettes were great, but never as good as the first one. Nobody made smoking look better than the old movies from the 40s. Problem is they never tasted quite that good. More than that I've never heard or read that cigarettes are good for anyone on average.

You must be doing better without the smokes.
