Speaker Pelosi and Sen. Reid have long ago displayed their loyalty to the system that protects the movers and shakers of the upper levels of government. It's not about the people or the rights of the people or the Constitution.

Washington will do as it damned well pleases and the People of the United States aren't going to do a damn thing about it. End of discussion.

Mick, the really sad this is...your comment above that I bolded and colored in red...is a mantra endlessly sounding off in the minds of every politician in America. That comment could well be used as an arugment in nearly every debate regarding Washington and their relationship with the American voters.

I think that the bail-outs prove your assertion. Despite overwhelming opposition, CONgress approved them anyway, and the "Fed" wants to manage the economy. I guess that shows who's really "the boss." The only thing that the American people can do is to vote each and every one of the bastards out of office, although I very much doubt that would happen. First, too much blind loyalty to their respective parties, and, secondly, I'm not all that confident regarding the integrity of our election process. Possibly at some point the economic pain may produce a viable third party, but with systemic corruption, I don't know how much it could accomplish.

Joe, your third party is coming! With Sarah Palin at its head.
Get on the bandwagon, donate early and often! A Washington outsider, not only will she NOT endorse and continue the status quo, she is totally ignorant of what status quo even means.

Absolutely! Get in on the ground level! Nuthin' like a party chaiman who thinks the US Justice Department is actually called the Department of Law.

It has absolutely nothing to do with Sarah Palin's gender, and everything to do with her ability, or lack of it.
Therefore mysogyny it ain't.

And for the record, knowing what I now know about Todd Palin, I'd level the same attacks at him. That is one ignint bastid.

You folks act as if there is actually a lawmaking body that serves the American people!
Do you honestly think Congress will do anything but a dog and pony show that makes themselves look good?
We won't even see restoration of ordinary checks and balances, nor will we see a stop put to end runs around Congressional Acts of War via UN resolutions.
When a POTUS decides that they want their war, it will be the same scenario, and there will be nothing that can be done about it short of total bankruptcy.
When the Federal govt runs out of creditors to lend them money and their financial outlook resembles California's, that's when we will see an end to personally enriching wars to inflate the checkbooks of their cronies and energy policies that do the same for other cronies.

Till then, bend over...here it comes again.
