Incidentally, I like poetry, and I've enjoyed the work posted here on RR. It's good stuff. Maybe BBQ is poetry in that you either like it or you don't. And like the creation of poetry (muses aside), it can be grueling work, especially on a hot day. I also like the tender seasoned flavorful meat falling off the bones, and my BBQ comes pretty darn close, although I encourage my guests to bring their teeth with them (aesthetics aside).

A lot of pecan groves around here. I haven't seen any pecan wood chips for sale locally, but only JD, mesquite, and hickory chips. I imagine that the pecan smoke is more "delicate." Hickory can be overpowering. There are a lot of pecan groves around here, and probably should be able to get a piece of some lightening damaged limb or old tree from some farmer.

We're experiencing a cooling trend here in the FL Panhandle. The temp's dropped to the high nineties. What to have for dinner? Chicken Phall, of course! Then the temp is not quite as hot as you think it is.

Joe, I get most of my wood chips from a barbecue specialty store in Orlando. My Mom has a pecan tree but every time it needs pruning my little brother beats me to it..........

Hot dogs and kraut on the menu here tonite! Ba-Tampte New Kraut and Hebrew National Beef Dinner Franks. On a potato Roll with lots of Stone Ground Mustard.

A pleasant discovery: NY style cheesecake (Philadelphia Cream Cheese recipe)served at room temperature with a glass of chilled blueberry wine makes an excellent combination.

Yum! We're having egg salad sandwiches...mine on Ezekiel bread and his on Pepperidge Farm thin whole wheat...with chives added from the garden.

Joe, I think I'd rather pour the Blueberry wine on top of the Cheesecake and have it with a cup of coffee. I can see how that might be fun though!

No egg dish is complete without either some cheese or some salsa, or at the very least an annoying splash of tabasco, and I was doing that long before I moved to Tex-Ass.
My brother, on the other hand, puts GRAPE JELLY on his eggs.

Try the cheesecake (room temp)with a glass of chilled blueberry wine sometime. I believe that you'd like it.

I've always liked sharp cheddar cheese and cold tomatoes (sliced, diced, or salsa)with my eggs. Lately, I've been dicing tomatoes and marinating them in Italian dressing in the refrigerator overnight to put on my eggs in the morning. I like grape jelly, too, but....
