I grew up with Eisenhour as president... and it is difficult for me to imagine people expressing outrage at the thought of him addressing school children.
Kennedy later had initiative to encourge physical fitness and learning science.... again I do not recall indignant national outrage.
Has the nation changed? Yes. We now have a black president.
