I would have poked fun at George W. Bush televising a speech to schoolkids, in part because of my fear that he'd lower their collective IQ by ten points.
I would have probably even gone so far as to say that Bush was planning to turn them all into little Junior Homeland Security brownshirts who rat their parents out because they didn't rush right out and buy plastic sheeting and duct tape.

But I never would have raised any official objections to his speech on the grounds that it was "dangerous".
I simply would have taken the kids aside the night before and said, "Now Suzy and Jimmy, we all know that our president isn't a very smart guy, so be sure and keep track of all the grammar and syntax errors he makes in his speech and remember, we are our own best security, right here at home."

But I wouldn't have pulled them out of school or blown up the phone lines at the school district, screaming like an idiot.

What these baggers and birthers are doing right now, is a whole lot different. It crosses the line and goes way past disrespecting the office of the president.
What they're doing now is tantamount to teaching their children that a black Democrat president is an enemy, an enemy just as dangerous as an Al-Qaeda terrorist.

They're teaching their children hate, and teaching them to point that hate directly at the office of the current president.

Stuff like that never ends well.
