MA, why do you say he is the most partisan President? Seems so contrary to fact that I am curious what you see. Phil, I really don't want this fight. I really believe that the Nobel Prize is a good thing and that Obama should be congratulated. I also believe that Obama may be able to turn that prize into somethng more tangible than $1.4M, from an American perspective. My problem is always that when I log on and witness the hero worship that goes on here, I find I have to respond. Really, this subject is more in line with the title than is the Obama/Nobel conversation. Suffice it to say we see things from a different angle.

It isn't the Nobel issue I was addressing, MA, rather your statement that he is the most partisan President. And if you have read what I have written, "hero worship" would not spring to mind.

However I cannot understand you apparent view that expressing disagreement that Obama is a failure contitutes hero worship In the context of the above discussion, it seems a fair point to note the Nobel prize award as contrary evidence to the allegation of outright failure.

hero worship? since you made the claim MA, it's up to you to give us hard evidence of that here. there may be a few folks that have expressed it, but i fail to see that as the tone of this board.
sure, you can talk to god, but if you don't listen then what's the use? so, onward through the fog!

In my life time there has been no bigger partisan President than Barack H Obama. He is exactly what he said he wasn't and goes about proving that every day. Being a partisan is not a bad thing, being a devisive partisan is, and Obama has chosen to pick his fights to maximise the amout of division created by them. Oh Hogwash. Statements like this are straight out of the goosestepping Republican Playbook. I can't help but glance back over my shoulder at the Compassionate Conservative who just left office. He proved very quickly that it was only the first of many many lies. Hope in one hand, s*** in the other. see which one fills up faster. Armed with hope I can change an entire world. Armed with s*** I can call myself a conservative.

So what did President Obama give the world to deserve the nomination, and eventually the Nobel Peace Prize? I say it's the same thing he gave Americans that won the election for him, very simply: Hope. His political adversaries were even given hope in some ways, they hope he will fail. They hope, by obstinacy and obduracy, they can drive this hope from the minds of the world and give them the renewed despair of more Republican leadership. They hope he can be forced to fail because they know his success will show the emptiness and depravity of previous leaders who catered only to the wealthy and forgot that this is government for and by the people, not just for and by the rich people. Both parties have failed this nation but President Obama has offered hope that reform might one day come. He has offered hope to the world that America will become a team player in the global economy it helped to create. He may be dragged down into ultimate failure by partisan politics but the hope he gave to the world was worth the Nobel Prize. 30 seconds and here is one example.

Just an explanation of maybe why the Nobel Committee picked President Obama for the peace prize. The criticism of anything positive said about President Obama just smacks of sour grapes.

Michael Moore said this in his letter to me today: P.S. to Barack Obama Your opposition has spent the morning attacking you for bringing such good will to this country. Why do they hate America so much? I get the feeling that if you found the cure for cancer this afternoon they'd be denouncing you for destroying free enterprise because cancer centers would have to close. There are those who say you've done nothing yet to deserve this award. As far as I'm concerned, the very fact that you've offered to walk into the minefield of hate and try to undo the irreparable damage the last president did is not only appreciated by me and millions of others, it is also an act of true bravery. That's why you got the prize. The whole world is depending on the U.S. -- and you -- to literally save this planet. Let's not let them down.

That might be considered hero-worship-but then, Michael Moore is not a member of this board.
