And I don't wish Limbaugh dead. I just don't feel guilty for not wishing him well. He's as close to being the Osama bin Laden of the Idiocratic Caliphate as we're gonna get in the USA. I am simply using the same kind of rhetoric he's so fond of on his radio program.
You could say it's my attempt to do a Rich Little style impersonation of the man. If it's against the guidelines to use Rush's own brand of rhetoric against him, then I guess I will have to make another edit to my post and save my act for the Catskills, thus proving that Limbaugh himself would not be granted posting priveleges here.
To me, that says a lot about Limbaugh's version of politics. And yet you can find him on Fox News with amazing regularity as a serious news contributor but they're allowed to call themselves a news organization.

yes... the eternal question..
comes full circle doesn't it? Euthanasia, Abortion, Braindead, Mercy Killing, DNR, Cost/Benefit, Murderers, Enablers... ...the death penalty...ignoring the homeless or starving...selling toy guns...declaring war...murder mysteries: books, movies, TV shows, etc... Thanks, It. Like most issues, there is no right or wrong. People have a tendency to pick and choose. They take positions that make them feel good about themselves, or support what they've decided to believe in, or support what someone else tells them they should believe in, or what would make their lives easier, more convenient or less fearful. Wishing someone dead out of anger, disagreement or hate isn't different than wishing someone dead for any other reason. Death is death is death. On some level I think it may even be inborn. Kids do it quite naturally...until they're taught not to. But does suppressing/repressing it kill the gut reaction?

Hey, I find it hard to believe that you've never tuned in to his show. If by some amazing feat of happenstance you haven't, please compare the last couple of my posts in this thread to what you hear on his show. I think I've got him pretty well nailed.

I wish this close encounter with his mortality makes him think about what his life's work means, in the larger sense.
Death or vocal paralysis is not necessary, but a little bit of enlightenment would be nice.

If Mr. Limbaugh did not exist, some other equally odious individual would take his place. Do I think him a poor American? Absolutely. Does he sway anyone with half a brain? Doubtfully. Would we be better off without him? Certainly. But I think the whole point of posting this thread was to create a false sense of victimhood about something that didn't exist here, or much of anywhere else.
A well reasoned argument is like a diamond: impervious to corruption and crystal clear - and infinitely rarer.
Here, as elsewhere, people are outraged at what feels like a rigged game -- an economy that won't respond, a democracy that won't listen, and a financial sector that holds all the cards. - Robert Reich

Death or vocal paralysis is not necessary, but a little bit of enlightenment would be nice. I heard a sound bite of his today after he left the hospital. Unfortunately, PIA, your wish did not come true. He's the same ol' Rush.

Does he sway anyone with half a brain? Doubtfully. I politely disagree. SEE: Dittohead I believe Mr. Rush does sway those with half-a-brain or less; but doesn't sway those with a full brain. ...the jury is still out with those with three-quarters of a brain.

So I take it you agree my impersonation of him is 100 percent, yes? Hey, I find it hard to believe that you've never tuned in to his show. If by some amazing feat of happenstance you haven't, please compare the last couple of my posts in this thread to what you hear on his show. I think I've got him pretty well nailed. I don't recall ever saying I've never tuned in to his show. I have listened to him. I've met him. I interviewed him for a magazine piece I wrote several years ago and I appeared on a panel with him in Washington. He's an entertainer, pure and simple, and a highly successful one. Bill O'Reilly, Glenn Beck, Keith Olbermann, et. al are entertainers as well. Does the popularity of the conservative pundits over the liberals suggest a "dumbing down" of the populace or does it indicate that those who consider their intellect superior to those of differing opinions aren't in tune with the majority of Americans? That's a debate for another time. I've debated Limbaugh enough to understand that he is an extremely intelligent man who knows how to motivate his followers. I don't agree with a lot of what he says but I find him no more pompous or arrogant than Olbermann. Both are propagandists for their cause and it drives liberals crazy that the propagandists from the right are better at their craft than those on the left. We've long had media demagogues. You might want to rent Elia Kazan's masterful "A Face in the Crowd," a 1957 film starring Andy Griffith and Patricia Neal. It clearly demonstrates how an entertainer can manipulate public opinion and the film is as relevant today as it was 52 years ago. --Doug
