I personally don’t wish the physical death of Limbaugh or other so-called political pundits. I do wish the death of Limbaugh’s (and others like him) abilities to manipulate, distort, and deceive his followers with his opinions disguised as facts or the truth without consequences. But for me to even have that wish would be considered by many as stepping on the principles of freedom of speech. In my opinion I do believe that Limbaugh and others in his business do make frequent commentaries, which are total lies cloaked as truth, that could seriously be construed as screaming out, “FIRE” in a theater.
The reality is that Limbaugh, Olbermann, Matthews, Beck, O’Reilly, etc…have become as much a part of the political squalor as the parties and corporations that control our pitiful excuse of a Republic form of government.
These broadcast demi-gods are anything but entertainers. To believe otherwise is being in denial about their substantial control over what information is or isn’t delivered to the millions of their devoted patrons on a daily basis. But, more importantly, they control “how information is disseminated”. They have the power to skew and/or rewrite the facts of events as they happen without retort. They reign over the dominion of opinion with millions of their followers who virtually cling to every word that crosses their lips as though they were divinely inspired. As these broadcast demi-gods’ popularity grows, so does their egos increase their beliefs that they are indeed gifted gods in their on right. They see themselves as champions of the little person…as long as the little person buys into their bullshit. What it all boils down to is that these so-called political pundits have come to believe that their opinions hold precedence over facts.
These broadcast demi-gods’ wield their power with a double edge sword. On one side of the sword, they generate mega-millions of income for the corporations that recognize their abilities to convince the common person that they have some supernatural ability to define social problems. As the saying goes, “whoever defines a problem may also hold the power to devise a solution”. On the other side of the sword, they stand ready to fulfill their self-proclaimed responsibilities to represent the voices of “We the People” who can’t otherwise be heard. They use their gift of bullshit, which of course is on loan from god, to exploit millions of the commoners who are on a pilgrimage for the search for truth to ease their fears.
Our political pundits have become the Pied Pipers of the election process. Politicians, corporation/lobbyists are drawn to their power of influence over the commoners and are desperate to tap into their talent of persuasion as a tool to publicize their propaganda of which they are more than willing to pay huge prices. These media pied pipers are becoming the surrogate minds of the electorates who are being psychically summoned to march in a trance like state to their respective polls and pull the levers as the pundits’ beckon.
Circumstance of birth has bestowed on these “pundits” the talent to attain the privilege, via modern day communication technology, to nationally engage in character assassination of persons who, for the most part, have no rights of acquiring a face-to-fact rebuttal. And should he or she (pundits) be confronted regarding any comments made that might shade their public image…they quickly declare their comments are nothing more than ordinary opinion. Again and again they escape the crucibles of accountability and decency.
Yes, each of us should scrutinize every printed or broadcasted word dumped on the public by media…and especially those published or spoken by so-called political pundits. Media and pundits hold little regard or respect for those who consume their services. Like politicians, pundits know that a large portion of this nation’s population have little aspiration, or in many cases, lack adequate abilities, to research facts and truths, which would decipher their perverse opinions or twisted facts. Like our politicians, they have become shameless and fearless.
