Dockside Thx for making the effort to exactly clarify what Robertson said. As you say, there is a little wiggle room in evaluating Robertson's intentions.
Although, it seems somewhat clear that he makes the inference that one can look at the suffering and poverty on one side of the island (Haiti) ... and from the comparison with the other side (Dominican Republic) draw the conclusion that Haiti has been cursed... and therefore that they are not under God's protection... and therefore there must have been a pact with the devil for God to turn his back... other wise they would be much better off like the Dominican Republic.
I am not sure how one can look at what he said and not draw the conclusion that God blesses those he likes with prosperity... and that therefore prosperity is somehow indicative of God's blessing?
The seems seriously divergent from Jesus' teaching that the meek would inherit the earth.
