Rick, I've just networked my two desktop machines with a (CAT 5e)crossover cable. You could also set up a simple wireless network. With just a little bit of configuration you can easily share files between the two.

"Easily" being a relative term. I'm a woodworker, not an IT guy.
Before I was done I almost took a crowbar to both machines.
