People will elect whom they feel represents them best. The people who are elected will invariably do the right thing on most issues, or they will be replaced. What I believe is happening is the replacement phase of politics. People got pissed at Lincoln, then Nelson, people who were going to benefit from the largess of the handout. The real start of this sentiment started when CT reelected Joe Lieberman as a independent. They rejected the party candidate and chose a guy they felt represented them.

...What Scott Brown won the race on was opposition to healthcare reform.... I totally agree. This is why I'm flummoxed because I know if nothing is done now; our premiums will continue to rise to pay for those who don't have health insurance and the Republicans do not feel that health care is an inherent fundamental right. We're screwed without the hugs and the kisses.

...When health insurance prices sky-rocket this year allowing insurance companies the chance to finally get a return on their investment and more and more employers end health care benefits for their employees as it becomes more and more expensive and we move to the only rational way to distribute health care - health care goes to those who are willing to pay for it - the blame will rightly fall on the president... Wigga, please.  Insurance companies are filthy rich. Insurance companies only insure those they know statistically won't put in a claim and drop those who do. Insurance companies suck just as big bankers suck just as big pharma sucks just as big oil sucks. Greedy people suck.

...It has nothing to do with fear and everything to do with reality. People do not like the agenda, period. They are afraid of his spending, afraid of his attempt to take over health care but also ominous for both parties, they are sick of being taken for granted... I think our GOP friend has hit the mark of the mood of the Country.

...I don't feel that there is a clear view yet, as to just what's going on. Given that Massachusetts is a Blue State, the electorate told us they are pissed and they're throwing out the bums. (That should make ye ol’ desert dweller quite happy  ) I'd like to feel that it's a signal... a wake up call to government to stop running around in their own circles, and pay some attention to the source of discontent. Oh this is more than a signal, it's marching orders from We the People...

We're screwed without the hugs and the kisses. Now is the time to strike. Now is the time to enact legislation that will reign in the cost of insurance, but I fear it will not happen. It would require a tail between the legs moment for the liberal left and a moment of graciousness from the radical right. I found it compelling that Martha Coakley was in Washington last week collecting checks from healthcare insurers, the same people she was demonizing the morning she left Boston to take their money, while Scott Brown was raising over a million online. Martha was tone deaf throughout the whole campaign, but I believe it is an institutional problem. There is too much free money to be had and the wink and nod deals being made by both parties are killing American politics. Health care will not change, people will not die in the streets and people will still complain about how much it costs. It isn't the idea of HCR, it is the process and the payment. It is the side deals and the lobbyists who legally bribe our elected officials to secure their place in the pecking order. Health care is not a right, but caring for the sick is a responsibility. That is the premise we operate on today and it works pretty well.

...Health care is not a right... ...and why isn't it? Is it the "promote the general Welfare" part of the Preamble that causes confusion? We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America
