Panamaed, what exactly is the point you are trying to make here? Are you happy that Bama Bingo is closed? Are you sad that you can't play Bingo? Are you saying that President Bush plays Bingo? If you're saying that government is corrupt and some politicians might be in the pockets of some businessmen, on that I think we all agree. Do you think if this was a false claim they would have allowed me to continue? The internet is full of wild claims about all sorts of things, no one really cares one way or the other whether you continue. We, however, will insist that you stick to our guidelines if you continue to post here. It seems all the news centers are covering this fact up when they should be shouting it at the top of their lungs. Why should they be shouting about it? It doesn't sound particularly newsworthy to me. An instance of corruption among Alabama state officials(probably not the first or last) A tenuous link to Uncle Bucky Bush just doesn't merit a lot of interest, link Paris Hilton to it and you might raise a few eyebrows temporarily.

Again, we disagree.
When a Mutual Fund invests mega-bucks of investor funds in an illegal operation such as Gilley's Country Crossing without notice it is newsworthy.
When you try to research it and follow the money it seems the story is being covered up.
I try to keep an open mind on such issues and go where the facts lead me.

I protest monopolization of any business.
I am glad that the Legislative, Judicial and Executive Branches are being exposed for what they really do on a daily basis in the United States with regards to Crooked Lobbyists and their influence on Governmental Corruption.

I think we also disagree on what constitutes "Megabucks". Looks like a pretty small time operation that somehow managed to interest a major investor. Now that it has been proven to be outside the current Alabama laws one of two things will probably happen: A.They will lose the investment. or B. They will change the laws. Either option is normal and acceptable. I protest monopolization of any business. What business are you saying has been monopolized by whom? Well, try to contain your joy because it looks like the lobbyists, whether they be crooked or not, have pretty much got a lock on controlling legislators and making sure that what laws are passed are to the benefit of our Corporate Masters. As you are fond of saying; just follow the money. It aint pretty and it aint right, but it is what it is.

We can agree on some things.
I was in Banking and the Title Business.
Both ran out all the mom and pop small businesses by either purchase, legislation or crook.
Coercion of Business is pet peeve of mine, too.

Say whether any source you quote is a news piece or an opinion piece. If your personal comments are opinion, do not claim they are facts. Back up your comments with documentation. You've posted a lot of links, which is why this thread wound up in the "Member Submitted Links" Forum, but so far you really haven't made it clear what your point or your opinion is. It clearly has nothing to do with the Bush administration and we don't have a forum for Bush Family News. This is what the owner of the 776 acre entertainment facility Gilley's Country Crossing" had to say about it on March 25: Source Country Crossing developer Ronnie Gilley said Thursday that he is confident legal work going on behind the scenes will allow the bingo development to reopen soon. “I am leaning on our attorneys who are trying to get their arms around the situation. We have a very good team and I am waiting on them as we speak,” Gilley said. “All we can say at this point is we hope we will open the doors soon. We feel very, very confident we will.” In his first interview in more than a month, Gilley also confirmed he has been courted by gaming interests in another state to move the project, but he is not inclined to do that yet. “Obviously we have other offers on the table that we would consider only out of necessity. We are firmly committed to Houston County, but have we explored those possibilities? Yes. And is it within our realm? Yes, it is.”
