The brutal truth is that we still are not listening. Americans don't believe that there is such a thing as Peak Oil or that it will happen in their lifetimes. Peak Oil may have already happen. If not, it will occur within the next few years. We are quite literally dependent on oil. Sadly, as a nation, we are willing to invade nations and kill hundreds of thousands of people so that we will not have to alter our lifestyles. It is a fool's game. We are oil junkies. Within our lifetimes we will be desperate for oil.

Most everything we possess or consume depends on oil. We have the power to change. We could even benefit by beginning to change if we do it now. Will we? America seems so addicted to unrestricted consumption. Change means sacrifice. I doubt we will welcome change.

If there is anyplace that might harvest the sun, it is Arizona. There are solar projects here. Many are from other countries. Other nations are building solar plants to supply Americans with solar energy. We should be exporting the technology. It should be a massive American effort, as should the development of other forms of energy. There is no silver bullet that will replace oil. We knew that. Maybe we didn't want to listen. Maybe we still don't.

There is a new motorcycle dealership here in town. A beautiful new building. On the roof is $900,000 worth of solar panels.
It will generate 23% of the electricity for the building.

Numbers like this keep us addicted to oil.

I'm just saying that BP has us over a barrel.
Now that was good.

It's still gushing. Question the "experts" when they say it's necessary for a nuke to seal the "spill."

Does BP own the beach?
Do they own The United States Coast Guard?

See for yourself!

If the Coast Guard is taking its orders from BP then it is mighty clear to me that President Obama is aiding and abetting a foreign oil company.
How else does BP get such authority?

Exactly how deep does this rabbit hole go?

It means sacrifice yes of course, but it does not necessarily mean lower standards across the board, at least not into perpetuity.

I've already mentioned neighborhood nukes, which are pretty much shovel ready (in a very literal sense).
This might sound distasteful but there is even ANOTHER source which can be tapped for local power generation.

Poop makes power too.

Lord knows, there is NO SHORTAGE of that.

Plug a pipe into the politicians and there's enough poop, gas, and heated air to keep us going forever. But if they should tire and actually begin telling the truth then we must bring on the neighborhood nukes you champion. I'm totally on board with that idea and hopefully the rest of the public will jump on board too, before we drown in tars balls and coal ash.

Solar and the rest is fine (as supplements) but they just won't produce enough. Look at the numbers--seriously. Unless of course we reduce our numbers. But that's another story.
