After our nest has been fouled to this extent, if we do not have a national (hell, make it WORLDWIDE) dialogue on the subject of the TRUE COST of oil, then we're crazier and less deserving of our continued existence than I thought.

A FL Panhandle radio station that I listen to regularly has the usual news reports, traffic reports, beach reports, and weather reports. They've now added "oil reports." I was driving along when I heard the announcer give the "oil report" much as he would give the traffic or weather report. "The oil will not reach here until possibly middle of next week," which obviously is important to beach goers, sportsmen, and local retailers. He said it matter of fact, almost like forecasting the next chance for rain. It was almost funny in a bizarre surrealistic sort of way. Shape of things to come?

What do you think Checkers? Crocodile tears or real contrition--some of both or neither. Are they really only heartless reptiles looking solely for that oil soaked dollar bill or is there a shred of humanity under the scales?

Here's what BP really thinks, and here's what they are REALLY concerned about.

HINT: It's not stopping the spill, it's recovering what WAS spilled, and make no mistake about it, even though it has washed up on OUR beaches, killed OUR marine life and OUR birds, destroyed OUR livelihoods and destroyed OUR hope of recovery for generations to come...

IT'S BP'S OIL and WOE TO ANYONE WHO THINKS IT'S NOT.

I'd like to see the CEO's of BP, Halliburton and Transocean arrested and tossed in the clink. I think if they're rotting in jail cells with no bail, we might see more aggressive action taken to stop the leak.

Okay it's finally come ashore. BP can try to hide the damage, to keep reporters away, to sell a line of BPBS to keep the mess under wraps, but it's not going to last long because the oil is going to keep coming and keep spreading farther and farther. Every time the wind changes direction another piece of coastline gets smeared with BPs oil, more wildlife suffers and dies, more fisheries are ruined.
Any bets on what this will do to the price of gasoline at the pump?
