Lo Han Kuo Beverage is especially effective for coughs and problems of the lungs, it is a natural expectorant which moistens and nourishes the lungs. It's a fantastic remedy for sore throats too. It makes a delicious tea which can be drunk cold or hot, though I've never tried it cold. Tastes a bit like brown sugar, looks like regular black tea when it's brewed.
It's made from the Grosvenor Momordica fruit which grows on vines and is about 2 inches in diameter. It grows only in one region of China.

It's quite inexpensive in the Oriental market, $1.29 for 12 servings and I've just come across another brand that's even cheaper but contains more cane sugar.

Fresh Duck and Quail eggs are available at the Oriental Market I shop at. Deviled Quail Eggs are fun to make and serve. I've never tried duck eggs, how do they compare to chickens?

Every time I fail to read where a pet food product is from - and Sam has an epileptic seizure - I later read the package which states: MADE IN CHINA

...it's usually stuff I buy from Amazon - which I have stopped doing.

So...no more treats for Sam until I get back to work and I can afford to buy the Amar-ican stuff.

Greger - lo han is very good cold; I make it a pint at a time when I have a hunger for sweet tea.

I'll try that Julia, it's certainly Iced Tea weather around here right now.

Rick there are many many treats you can make for Sammy cheaper than you can buy in the stores and certainly cheaper if you factor in Amazon's shipping cost. If you look at dog treat prices per pound you can often just buy them a nice steak for the same price. Dogs will do flips for the cheapest toughest piece of beef you can buy, sliced with the grain to make it tougher, then slow roasted to dehydrate it a little and make it tougher yet. I also keep a big box of MilkBones around and dip them in jars of very cheap peanut butter.

That's how I see it. I grow, can, freeze and dehydrate as much as I can but I do need to buy meats. I now have ducks in my yard this year for the eggs.
Yeah y'all are probably right.
I don't eat much meat but I do eat fish.
I saw a special on fisheries in China. uuggghhh...big time.
Especially tilapia farms. sick

Gregor, how is your pet treat enterprise coming along? Those treats Sammy tested were winners. (Note: For him, they need to be about 3x larger)

I don't have a dehydrator. I'm sure I could make some really nice chicken jerky and beef jerky for him if I did.

I think you should setup a PayPay® acct and start taking orders for your different dog treats. I'll be a customer because not only do I know the ingredients are wholesome - but the treats would be made with love too.

...just so that you know - "Chef Michael" is already taken as a dog food/treat company name. wink

Haven't I warned you about Talapia farms before? Hmm

Only eat wild fish.

You only eat fruits and vegetables "in season." Why would you not do the same for fish? Fish has "seasons" too.

You're preaching to the choir, Rick.
A long time ago I ate tilapia but I saw the light several years ago about that.
I think I've always only agreed with you. ThumbsUp
I DO only eat wild caught fish.
Mostly salmon from Alaska and shrimp.
