Hello everyone, it's the Round Table for the week beginning June 27. Welcome to the party!

1869 Emma Goldman anarchist/publisher (Mother Earth)
Emma Goldman (June 27, 1869 – May 14, 1940) was an anarchist known for her political activism, writing and speeches. She played a pivotal role in the development of anarchist political philosophy in North America and Europe in the first half of the twentieth century.

The most violent element in society is ignorance. Emma Goldman

The following line is a direct lift from the site where I found it: grin

1880 Helen Keller "blind-deaf author/lecturer had more sense than many "

The following quote amazes more more each time I read it.

"I had once believed that we are all masters of our fate - that we could mould our lives into any form we pleased. I had overcome deafness and blindness sufficiently to be happy, and I supposed that anyone could come out victorious if he threw himself valiantly into life's struggle. But as I went more and more about the country I learned that I had spoken with assurance on a subject I knew little about. I forgot that I owed my success partly to the advantages of my birth and environment. Now, however, I learned that the power to rise in the world is not within the reach of everyone." [italics mine. I think if you look up "compassion" in the dictionary you should find this quote.]

This one can go right under Miss Keller's entry for compassion

I love this song; it's a great, and very rude,
example of her absolutely innocent ability to, well, talk dirty!

Mighty fine opener there, Mellowicious, and the happiest of happy birthdays as you enter this fifth decade of your life. For me it's been the best one I can remember. That being partly due to the fact that I can't remember much about the previous decades.

LOL, Greger.

My 50s were the best too.
Happy Birthday, Mellow!
I love LOVE that photo.
It captures you.

Pit stop here.
The best Fest ever.
Man, they couldn't get it more right.
Hot as hell but that's ok. They had misters strung all over to keep us cool. Big fans in the beer gardens.
Music could not be beat.
One more afternoon.

I'm back out the door.

Have a great day all.

A comparison to highlight another side of Helen Keller.

A friend of mine still wonders if the powers that be in Alabama have realized they commemorated a communist on their state quarter.

I have slept in so many beds in the last week, I didn't quite know where I was when I woke this morning. I left last Friday for Atlanta, from there to Richmond, College Park, Silver Spring, Lexington, S.C., Atlanta and finally back to Huntsville.

For the most part it was a great trip but very, very hot in DC.

I'm here for two weeks and then the adventure starts again.

Happy week my friends.

Kathy

Thanks, all, for the birthday wishes. I will admit that I had to work up to this one a bit!
