I thought the "videographer" was being rather rude and obnoxious, as well as melodramatic and misleading. I have no sympathy.

A well reasoned argument is like a diamond: impervious to corruption and crystal clear - and infinitely rarer.

Here, as elsewhere, people are outraged at what feels like a rigged game -- an economy that won't respond, a democracy that won't listen, and a financial sector that holds all the cards. - Robert Reich

I watched almost the first two minutes and had to shut it down. NO ONE (not involved) should get that close to a working ambulance - or ambulance staff - for any reason. It endangers the patient.

I didn't wait to see the bullying but had I been there, I might have been tempted to sock her, myself.

BUT - a free press is a serious concern of mine, in the BP spill and elsewhere, so if I have time later I'll try to come back and watch more.

World Market Nervous over BP's Possible Collapse

Quote
Britain's financial and economic top officials conducted a special meeting to discuss possible actions, which the British authorities may have to take in the event the oil giant either collapses or goes bankrupt. The officials even considered a variant at which BP could be nationalized....

British Petroleum is a strategically important company for Great Britain.... BP's expenses connected with the oil spill disaster have been gathering like a snowball. British officials fear that the company may not be able to pay its dividend to pension funds of the nation.
BP's woes are having an effect on an already troubled British economy. That, in turn, will have a bad effect on Europe's troubled economy. Which will damage America's troubled economy. (Do I hear the dominoes hitting each other?)

A significant part of Britain's retirement funds depend on dividends from BP.

It looks like the widows and orphans of Old London Town will owe their small pensions to America's miserable lack of proper regulatory oversight.

So much for "winning hearts and minds"!

I am reminded of the saying:

well, judging from the distance, speaking as a journalist, she was within proper range and not obstructing the scene. although i agree with nwp that she was annoying, she had every right to be on that spot without expectation of harrassment.

sure, you can talk to god, but if you don't listen then what's the use? so, onward through the fog!

The general rule is pretty obvious.
I won't go so far as to say that she "endangered" the patient or obstructed the crew but a few times she came close.
As to her conduct it was straight out of "Sunset Boulevard"....
"I'm ready for my closeup, Mister de Mille."

But anyone who watches a local newscast sees the usual crash and burn stories and the usual routine is to establish a wide or master shot, then "spray" the area with a few detailed medium shots using the zoom, and then to try and get a few words from an incident commander if possible, which in this case, would have been unlikely.
Second choice is to interview bystanders or witnesses.
For any of these shots it's never necessary to get closer than twenty to forty feet from the incident as you can get everything you need from that vantage point without being in the way.

This rule of thumb only goes away if you're capturing the incident as it happens, but the typical ambulance/fire engine/crash scene stuff almost always gets covered in the same consistent manner described above and it's when you deviate radically from that routine that you attract attention.

I suspect that big ole bubba-cop would have imposed his bulk on her even if this had taken place in the middle of a downtown Birmingham street. She simply acted in an amateurish fashion and it showed.

That probably explains it - I don't watch local tv news.

Curiously numan, BP's stock value of their American ADR has risen about 40% since the lows of late June. The market is betting on something other than worst case scenario right now.

We'll see the the morrow may bring.

If the reports I am reading about sea bed fracturing are true, then "capping" the well will not end the oil release. In this case, the capping operation can only be window dressing, to soothe people into thinking that "something is being done." It will tide people over until August, when the "relief wells" will (supposedly) solve the problem. And so it goes.

Gulf Oil Gusher: Danger of Tsunamis From Methane?

Quote
According to geologists, the first signs that the methane may burst its way through the bottom of the ocean would be manifest via fissures or cracks appearing on the ocean floor near the path of least resistance, ie, the damaged well head. Evidence of fissures opening up on the seabed have been captured by the robotic midget submarines working to repair and contain the ruptured well. Smaller, independent plumes have also appeared outside the nearby radius of the bore hole. When reviewing video tapes of the live BP feeds, one can see in the tapes of mid-June that there is oil spewing up from visible fissions. Geologists are pointing to new fissures and cracks that are appearing on the ocean floor.
