A lot of happy talk on MSM that the crisis in over, the damage overstated, and the GOM will return to normal within 3 years. I hope that BP's scientists and media shills are correct; however, after watching Feds think public can’t HANDLE THE TRUTH about toxic dispersants (VIDEO) , I can't help but still be suspicious.

Has the Damage Been Exaggerated?...e/0,8599,2007202,00.html#ixzz0v6RBzYKd
I certainly hope so, but I've noticed that even some bird poop on a car had an oil sheen to it, and that the humming bird activity is down by more than 50% for this time of year. At any rate, from the article cited above: Marine scientist Ivor van Heerden, another former LSU prof, who's working for a spill-response contractor, says, "There's just no data to suggest this is an environmental disaster. I have no interest in making BP look good — I think they lied about the size of the spill — but we're not seeing catastrophic impacts." Van Heerden, like just about everyone else working in the Gulf these days, is being paid from BP's spill-response funds. "There's a lot of hype, but no evidence to justify it."

I can't help but still be suspicious. C'mon, admit it. Joe, you're just a suspicious type o' guy. I'll bet if this was a gold mine spewing gold and other toxic gases and such into the gulf people wouldn't be so upset. I'll also betcha if the gold was laying on the bottom of the GOM and not floating to the top they'd find a way to get down there and clean up the mess pronto. It's just a matter of perspective. Oil aint pretty.
Good coffee, good weed, and time on my hands...

Hey, call me skeptical, but I believe it's premature to declare "Mission Accomplished" in the Gulf just yet. But, I may be wrong.

Chelsea's wedding should move the Gulf spill incident to the back pages now.

' EPA Whistleblower Accuses Agency of Covering Up Effects of Dispersant in BP Oil Spill CleanupWith BP having poured nearly two million gallons of the dispersant known as Corexit into the Gulf of Mexico, many lawmakers and advocacy groups say the Obama administration is not being candid about the lethal effects of dispersants. We speak with Hugh Kaufman, a senior policy analyst at the EPA’s Office of Solid Waste and Emergency Response and a leading critic of the decision to use Corexit. The mills of karma grind slowly, but they grind exceedingly fine. The American government dumped Agent Orange over the people of Vietnam, and now the American government is dumping Corexit over the people of the United States.

Documents indicate heavy use of dispersants in gulf oil spill I wonder if the fines and clean up costs once the oil reached the shore influenced BP's excessive use of dispersants to "disappear" the oil by dispersing it on the surface or sinking it?
