Even if they did not extend same-sex marriage rights to all of those other states, wouldn't it make it likely that similar suits brought in those states would succeed?
This issue is slowly snowballing, and will ultimately be impossible to stop, because it has undeniable constitutional support. Given a chance to vote against the constitution, voters may do so, but given it's day in court it will eventually win.
