...so this rant is about
Direct Buy:
- We've all seen their commercials, right?
On Tuesday, I was browsing thru my August coupon.com load and there was a
Direct Buy coupon for a free open house.
A friend of mine in 'The City' and I have wondered what the dealio is about that place. So I requested an invitation to attend an Open House in the East Bay.
I went today, and
Direct Buy wouldn't let my friend in because the reservation was for one.
...so my friend convinced me to go anyway and he would go back to 'The City' as I was going to make another reservation for two (...he was going to pose as my 'significant other' as there is only ONE Open House invitation per household.

)
So here's the dealio:
You pay $5,999.00 for a two year membership to get "manufacturers pricing" on any type of home goods: furniture, refrigerators, window coverings, cabinets, carpets, drapes, etc + freight costs for the item from the manufacturer + sales tax.
...then, you pay $199.00 a year for years 3-10. That's right,
Direct Buy is a 10 year contract commitment - but look at all the money you save over retail! Oy! Such a deal!
So, after the sales schpeal, I tell the salesman that I'm unemployed and that I just wanted to 'check out' what
Direct Buy was all about.
The sales guy informed that if I didn't sign up today, I would be banned from attempting to sign-up for 5 years because I know their secret to low pricing.
Well, now
all you
Ranters do too and you don't have to waste 90 mins of your life at
Direct Buy that you'll never get back, listening to a sales' schpeal.
You're welcome.
