BP oil spill: bonus tied to speed of repairs, Deepwater rigger tells hearing
Quote
Daun Winslow, who works for Transocean, the contractor that was operating the rig on BP’s behalf, told a US investigatory hearing that part of the bonus was calculated on the “down time” a rig experienced when it needed to be repaired.

He went on to say that in the case of a working well – which the Macondo well that the Deepwater Horizon was drilling was not – Transocean could lose as much as $500,000 a day in rig rental fees if drilling had to be stopped to make time for repairs.

Dr.Steven Picou forecasts fracture for gulf coast communities
Quote
Sum up in one sentence what happens to the people when you destroy the environment.

Once the ecology becomes poisoned it feeds back and poisons our social systems, our communities, our families and even our own sense of self.
